Cookie policy

The Path Ranker cookie policy is the page that explains what pathranker.com stores in your browser, what each item is for and how you can change your choice at any time.

What the site stores today

pathranker.com keeps in your browser’s storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) two necessary items, which stay on your device, and the items of its own measurement, listed below, which are not cookies. Only if you allow the Analytics category does Google Analytics also set two identification cookies, listed below.

ItemWhat it is forHow long it staysCategory
pr.langRemembers the language you chose in the language switch, so the site opens in it next time.Until you clear the site’s data in your browser.Necessary
pr.consentStores your choice in this notice (performance and analytics, yes or no) and the date you made it.Twelve months; after that the notice asks again.Necessary
pr.sidRandom id of the visit (sessionStorage), to count the pages of one visit. It is not a cookie and it does not identify you.Until you close the tab.Own measurement
pr.srcWhere the current visit came from (sessionStorage): campaign, ad or site.Until you close the tab.Own measurement
pr.touchedA mark that the origin of this visit has already been counted (sessionStorage).Until you close the tab.Own measurement
pr.intentA mark that, in this visit, you already clicked a sign-up button (sessionStorage), so that intent is counted once per visit.Until you close the tab.Own measurement
pr.acqWhere you came from on your first and your last visit (localStorage), so we know which channel brought a sign-up. It goes in the sign-up link and the dashboard deletes its copy when the account is created.Until you clear the site’s data.Own measurement
pr.internalA mark of internal traffic (localStorage), only in our team’s browser, so our own visits are not counted. You do not have this item.Until the team clears the site’s data.Internal
_gaGoogle Analytics cookie. It identifies the browser at random, without your name or e-mail, to count visitors and visits. It exists only if you allow the Analytics category.Up to 2 years; the site deletes it when you switch the Analytics category off.Analytics
_ga_SB7QCNTH4EGoogle Analytics cookie. It keeps the state of the visit session. It exists only if you allow the Analytics category.Up to 2 years; the site deletes it when you switch the Analytics category off.Analytics

The dashboard (dash.pathranker.com) is a different address: signing in keeps a session in the browser there, which is needed to log in. What it stores is described in the privacy policy.

The categories and what each one does

Necessary
They store the language and this choice. The site needs them to remember what you asked for, so they are always on and cannot be switched off.
Performance
They would measure the site’s speed and errors. Today the site uses no tool of this kind, so switching this category on or off does not change anything yet.
Analytics
It counts visits, the most-read pages and the clicks on the sign-up and plan buttons, plus the contact form being sent (never what you wrote), with Google Analytics (Google). It loads only if you switch this category on; when you switch it off, measuring stops and the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies. We do not use Google’s advertising features.
Own measurement
Besides Google Analytics, the site counts visits, clicks on the sign-up and plan buttons and where sign-ups came from by itself, with no cookies and no IP address. It is anonymous, has no switch and does not run for anyone who sends “Do Not Track” or the Global Privacy Control, nor for our own traffic.

How to change your choice

Use the button below or the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of any page. To erase everything the site stored, clear the site’s data in your browser settings: the notice comes back on your next visit.

If this changes

Before we use any other performance or analytics tool, we will update this page and the privacy policy, and the tool will load only for people who allowed its category.
