Monitoring

Know when your site gets worse, goes down or is about to expire

Monitoring is the scheduled repetition of a site’s analysis to notice when something gets worse, the site goes down or the domain is about to expire. Path Ranker analyzes your domains at your plan's frequency, compares each analysis with the previous one and e-mails you when something gets worse. Between analyses, it checks that the site is up.

How it works

01

Add the domain

In Domains, add the site and pick the automatic analysis: monthly, weekly or daily, depending on your plan.

02

Path Ranker keeps watch

Each analysis is compared with the previous one for the same domain. The home page is opened every few minutes, and the certificate and domain registration are read once a day.

03

You get the alert

Owners and admins get an e-mail when the score drops, when the site goes down and when it comes back, and before the certificate or domain expires.

What monitoring does

Scheduled analyses

Each domain is analyzed on its own at the frequency you choose, with the same page and Lighthouse settings. Scheduled analyses are always complete.

What changed

With each analysis, the change in the overall score and in each area, plus the new findings, the ones that got worse and the ones that were resolved.

Regression alert

An e-mail when the overall score drops 5 points or more, an area drops 8 points or more, or a new high or critical finding appears. At most one per domain every 12 hours.

Only what was measured

The comparison uses only the areas both analyses measured the same way. A check that failed, or an analysis with a different page count or Lighthouse mode, never becomes an alert.

Uptime

The home page is opened every 5 minutes, or every minute on Enterprise. Two failures in a row count as downtime: you get an e-mail, and another one when the site is back, with how long it was down.

Certificate and domain

Once a day, it reads when the TLS certificate and the domain registration (RDAP) expire. It warns at 14 days or less for the certificate and 30 days or less for the domain, repeating every 3 days.

New pages

Once a day, it reads the sitemap. Each new page is checked once, and those that go live with a serious problem are sent by e-mail.

Weekly summary and webhook

Every Monday, from 8 a.m. in your time zone, an e-mail with what changed in each domain. At the end of each analysis, a JSON summary can go to an endpoint of yours (webhook), with its own event when something got worse.

What it does not do

  • Uptime is checked from a single location, in São Paulo, Brazil. A failure that only happens in another region may not show up.
  • Only the home page is opened every few minutes. An inner page that is down does not trigger the downtime alert.
  • A block page (401, 403 or 429) counts as up, because the server answered.
  • Sites on a platform subdomain, such as a .vercel.app or .netlify.app address, get no registration warning: that domain belongs to the platform.

Which plans include it

Starter: monthly analysis and uptime checks every 5 minutes, on up to 5 domains. Pro: weekly analysis and checks every 5 minutes, on up to 20 domains. Enterprise: daily analysis on up to 25 domains (the rest weekly) and checks every minute, on up to 100 domains. The Free plan has no scheduling or alerts.

Frequently asked questions

  • No. The regression alert goes out when the overall score drops 5 points or more, an area drops 8 or more, or a serious new problem appears, at most once every 12 hours per domain. The downtime alert goes out at most once an hour per domain.
  • The account owners and admins. Each person turns alerts and the weekly summary on or off in Settings, and every e-mail has an unsubscribe link.
  • A site is only marked as down after two failures in a row and after our server confirms it can reach the internet. That way, a problem on our side does not become a downtime alert.
  • No. It only reads the public site: it opens the home page and reads the sitemap, the certificate and the domain registration. Nothing is installed.
  • Yes. In Integrations, enter a webhook URL: at the end of each analysis it receives a JSON summary with the score, the most serious findings and what changed, with a different event when something got worse.
